I love activities that serve two purposes! I'm trying to be a little more organized and the kids have been wanting to build a snowman (living in metro Atlanta, there's rarely any snow around here). So I cleared my fridge of all the school notes and art projects, but instead of a bare fridge, we built a snowman!
- Foam sheets: Red, black and yellow. I used 12X18 size sheets.
- Magnetic Buttons (PLEASE Make sure you know how to use magnets safely.)
- Scissors
- Glue (I used a low-temp hot glue gun)
- Patterns:
1. Print off the two patterns. Transfer the patterns to foam (Black for the eyes and buttons, and yellow or orange for the nose): I put the paper on top of the foam, then using a bit of pressure, traced the patterns with a closed pen. This will put an indention into the foam making it easy to cut.
2. Cut out eyes, buttons, and nose. Glue magnets to the back.
3.Using one sheet of red, cut out the scarf. A+B= the total width of the fridge. C= the left over.
5. Cut the bottom of "C" to form a fringe. Hand curl the fringe to give it some depth.
8. OPTIONAL: Cut a strip of red to put on the band of the hat.
9. Assemble the snowman on your fridge. Use the extra magnet buttons for the mouth.
Rosey Posey helped space everything. She has her father's sense of humor: She kept opening the freezer saying "AH!! He lost his head". LOL Now my fridge looks nice and neat and the kids can build and rebuild the snowman over and over.
